Your hands deserve more than an ordinary cream — give them care that thinks like a facial serum.

Every day you care for your face with premium cosmetics. You use serums, creams, masks. And yet your hands — the most exposed parts of your body — receive nothing but a quick moisturiser from the drugstore. Science and dermatology are clear today: the skin on your hands deserves more.

This article is not about a passing trend. It is a guide to why the skin on your hands ages faster than your face, what the skin barrier is and why its condition matters — and how to support it with premium dermcosmetic care.

Why hands need more than an ordinary cream

Your hands work all day. We wash them dozens of times, expose them to cold, sun, cleaning products and constant mechanical strain. Yet the skin on the hands ages faster than facial skin — it is thinner, has fewer sebaceous glands and is naturally harder to hydrate.

Despite this, hand care has long received only a fraction of the attention dedicated to the face in the cosmetics world. The result? Hands are paradoxically the part of the body that most quickly reveals your true age — through dry skin, visible veins, pigmentation spots and loss of elasticity.

The Hand Cream with CANACORILIN® Complex from EPIDERMA® corrects this imbalance. It is not an ordinary cream. It is dermcosmetic care that transfers the standard of facial serums directly to the skin of the hands — with a patented formulation, bioactive ingredients and a scientifically grounded approach.

The skin barrier: what it is and why to protect it

The skin barrier is the first and most important line of defence of your body. It is composed primarily of ceramides, fatty acids and cholesterol, which together form a lipid matrix — a protective layer that prevents moisture loss and blocks the entry of irritants from outside.

The skin barrier on the hands is chronically exposed to factors that systematically damage it: alcohol in hand sanitisers disrupts the lipid layer, hot water during handwashing washes away the natural sebum, and detergents in soaps and cleaning products attack the structure of the stratum corneum directly.

A damaged skin barrier manifests as dryness, tightness, cracking and increased sensitivity. This is not an aesthetic problem — it is a functional skin condition that requires targeted care. That is why applying any cream is not enough. You need a formulation that can actively restore the barrier — not just temporarily relieve the feeling of dryness.

What is the CANACORILIN® complex and why it matters

CANACORILIN® is a patented complex developed specifically for EPIDERMA® dermcosmetic products. It combines cannabidiol (CBD) — the active ingredient from hemp oil — with other biosynergistic components in a way that maximises their mutual effect on the skin.

Why CBD? Hemp oil (Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil) and pure CBD (Cannabidiol) are valued in dermcosmetics for their ability to soothe irritated skin, support natural balance and contribute to nourishing the skin barrier. CANACORILIN® elevates this base to a patented level — meaning a formulation whose exact combination and concentration are protected and unavailable elsewhere.

A patented formulation does not mean marketing alone. It means the formula underwent a research and development process whose outcome is a unique and protected solution — something you will not find in any other cream on the market.

Bioactive ingredients that deliver results

A premium product is recognisable by what is inside. The Hand Cream with CANACORILIN® Complex brings together three groups of active ingredients, each fulfilling a specific role — and each backed by clinical data confirming its efficacy.

Ceramides and skin barrier restoration

Ceramide 3 is a key building block of the skin’s lipid matrix — replenishing ceramides that the skin naturally loses through age and external influences. A review study by Kono et al. (2021) in the Journal of Dermatology, which analysed 12 controlled clinical trials, confirmed that ceramide-containing preparations demonstrably improve hydration and skin barrier function in dry and atopic skin. [PubMed: 34596254]

Hyaluronic acid — dual hydration

Hyaluronic Acid and Sodium Hyaluronate provide dual hydration: the low-molecular-weight form penetrates into deeper layers, while the high-molecular-weight form creates a protective film on the surface. A randomised study by Pavicic et al. (2011) in the renowned Journal of Drugs in Dermatology demonstrated that all tested 0.1% hyaluronic acid formulations lead to statistically significant improvements in skin hydration and elasticity. [PubMed: 22052267] Complemented by Hydroxyethyl Urea as a highly effective humectant and trusted Glycerin.

CBD and hemp oil — soothing and nourishment

Cannabidiol (CBD) and hemp oil (Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil) form the foundation of the patented CANACORILIN® complex. A review study by Kuzumi et al. (2025) in the American Journal of Clinical Dermatology summarises current evidence: topical CBD exhibits anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, moisturising and healing effects through interaction with the skin’s endocannabinoid system. [PubMed: 41008526] Shea butter (Butyrospermum Parkii) and sweet almond oil (Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis) complete the nourishing base, while Bisabolol provides soothing even for the most sensitive skin.

Anti-age complex: retinol and bakuchiol

Retinol is the gold standard of anti-ageing care. Bakuchiol, its natural alternative from the Bakuchi plant, offers comparable efficacy with better tolerability for sensitive skin. A prospective randomised double-blind study by Dhaliwal et al. (2019), published in the prestigious British Journal of Dermatology, compared both compounds directly: bakuchiol and retinol both significantly reduced fine wrinkle area and hyperpigmentation — with no statistical difference in efficacy. Retinol users reported significantly more side effects (scaling, stinging). [PubMed: 29947134] The antioxidant protection is completed by the synergy of Coenzyme Q10, Vitamin E and Vitamin C.

Anti-age hand care: the end of the face–hands divide

For a long time, the cosmetics world operated on an unspoken assumption: sophisticated and expensive care belongs to the face, while hands receive a simple moisturiser. This approach is now being reconsidered even by professional dermatology.

The skin on the hands is exceptionally exposed to UV radiation — one of the main external drivers of premature ageing. Pigmentation spots appear, collagen production decreases, the skin thins and loses elasticity. These are precisely the processes targeted by the anti-age complex of retinol, bakuchiol, coenzyme Q10 and vitamins E and C in the EPIDERMA® cream.

Hand care inspired by facial serums is not a luxury — it is the logical consequence of what dermatology knows about skin ageing. The result of regular use is skin that looks neither tired nor neglected — but soft, smooth and vital.

For me as a dermatologist, this is exactly what modern dermcosmetics should be: not a compromise between efficacy and comfort, but a formulation that unites both.

How to apply the cream correctly

The efficacy of any dermcosmetic product depends not only on the formulation but also on the method of application. For maximum results:

  1. Apply to clean hand skin — ideally after washing your hands, when the skin is ready to absorb active ingredients.
  2. Massage in from palms to wrists — a brief massage stimulates microcirculation and promotes absorption.
  3. Pay special attention to nail grooves and cuticles — these areas tend to be the driest and most sensitive.
  4. Allow to absorb naturally — the light texture is absorbed quickly without leaving a greasy feeling.
  5. Use regularly, ideally after every wash — a regular routine transforms skin condition over time; a single application only provides temporary relief.

Suitable for everyday use. Formulated for dry and sensitive skin, including skin prone to eczema, as well as normal skin. Unisex.

Frequently asked questions

CANACORILIN® is a patented composition developed specifically for EPIDERMA® dermcosmetics. It combines cannabidiol (CBD) and hemp oil with other biosynergistic ingredients in a patent-protected way — making it a unique formulation you will not find in any other cream.

Yes. The cream is formulated for dry and sensitive skin, including skin prone to eczema. The gentle formulation containing bisabolol, CBD and ceramide 3 helps calm the skin and restore the skin barrier. For more serious skin conditions, we recommend consulting a dermatologist.

Yes. Retinol is present in a concentration suitable for everyday cosmetic use. For maximum comfort, we recommend applying the cream in the evening or after indoor activities, as retinol increases the skin’s sensitivity to sunlight. The formulation is complemented by bakuchiol — a natural alternative to retinol that reduces potential irritation.

Immediate comfort and hydration are felt upon the first application. Visible results — smoothing, restoration of elasticity, improvement of skin condition — appear with regular daily use typically after 3–4 weeks. The anti-age effect becomes evident with long-term use.

The main difference lies in the formulation and philosophy. The EPIDERMA® cream combines the patented CANACORILIN® complex, dual hyaluronic acid, ceramide 3, shea butter and a complete anti-age complex (retinol + bakuchiol + Q10 + vitamins E and C) — a composition comparable to facial serums, not to ordinary moisturising creams. Every product is developed in collaboration with dermatologists and without unnecessary fillers.
